Hunderttausende Inder und Inderinnen – landlose Bauern und Ureinwohner – begeben sich auf einen 400 Kilometer langen Protestmarsch von Gwalior nach Delhi, um ihr Recht auf eine würdige Existenz einzufordern. Wie kann man für seine Rechte kämpfen, ohne Gewalt anzuwenden? Mit dieser wichtigen aktuellen Fragestellung strahlt der Film weit über die Grenzen Indiens hinaus. Er zeigt die vielfältigen Facetten des imposanten Protestmarsches und fokussiert dabei auch immer wieder auf die tägliche Realität dieser stolzen Menschen.

Hundreds and thousands of Indian men and women – indigenous inhabitants and landless farmers – demand their right to existence by making a 400 kilometre protest march from Gwalior to Delhi. How can one fight for one’s rights without using violence? With such an important contemporary question, the film spreads far beyond the borders of India. It shows the multiple facets of this imposing protest march and focuses as well on the daily realities of these proud people.

Dem Regisseur Christoph Schaub schwebte für die Landkarten eine reliefartige Darstellung vor. Die dreidimensionale Form erwies sich im Laufe unserer Zusammenarbeit jedoch als visuell zu verwirrend. So suchte ich nach einer reduzierten grafischen Lösung und wählte die frei nutzbaren Karten auf openstreetmap.com als Basis. Durch Bearbeitung und zusätzliche Elemente gab ich den Karten einen neuen Look und animierte sie anschliessend für den Film.
For the maps, the director Christoph Schaub had a relief-like design in mind. During our collaboration, the three-dimensional form turned out to be visually confusing. That is why I looked for a reduced, graphical solution and chose the free useable maps of openstreetmap.com as a starting basis. By processing them and adding elements, I gave the maps a new look and animated them for the film.
